That’s our boys, winning the Louis Vuitton regatta! Now, in the America’s Cup, it will be Team NZ against Swiss team Alinghi, which...has a passel of New Zealand sailors.

Six months ago, I picked up a fantastic vintage oak cake stand for $5 at a Salvation Army store - a cool object that failed to fit with either my house or my life. I just sold it for $35 on local eBay.

I also did my taxes. No refund, but I won’t have to pay as much as I anticipated. The extra dinero will be the start of my "Wood Burning Stove In 2008" fund.

Last night, that co-worker and I went to see “The King and The Clown.” Which was both a fantastic movie and, as anticipated, as slashy as all get-out. Every elf slasher should see this movie for the hunting scene, with the deliciously effeminate actor Lee Jun Ki in his green elf robes 16th-century Korean garb. My co-worker picked another co-worker of ours out of the crowd in the distance, which raised further questions, such as: do we say hello, here at the gay film festival? And is that guy he's sitting with a boyfriend? "The King and The Clown" did seem to be the default gay film festival choice of heterosexual couples, based on the audience: the crowd waiting for the next movie set my gaydar off much, much more.

Tomorrow, I am meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen for afternoon tea. After an appointment with a feng shui consultant. Apparently, the United Nations has a feng shui group working with them.

A Luis Vuitton regatta? That seems so... wrong somehow. (Pictures crew lifting up open luggage to serve as sails.)

It makes more sense when you consider that sailing a yacht can be one of the most expensive hobbies known to humankind. (http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/11/06/business/web.1106allchin.php) Louis Vuitton wants a slice of that prestige. There's still a Louis Vuitton store languishing in Auckland to this day, eking out an existence selling things to Japanese tourists.
