Happy Hannukah
Dec. 14th, 2009 11:03 pmI spent most of Saturday husbanding my energy for a Hannukah dinner, which was a real pleasure, and most of Sunday preparing for my own Hannukah dinner. One of the nicest parties I've had in this house, thanks to everyone who came, bringing their wit and their amazing contributions. The guests brought another menorah for us to light, home-made goodies (more latkes, biscotti, pumpkin bread, crisp salad, fresh applesauce), flotillas of strawberries and drinks, and even a heartwarming present or three.
After a full day at work today, I came home and said, "What a delightfully busy three days! Now I can relax and do nothing!"
I failed at this. Instead, I sewed a dress.
This was a repeat of Simplicity 3678, in some black knit fabric that a friend gave me - something flexible, for the moody summer we've been having. A dress to wear to the beach even if the beach is from a Bill Hammond painting. It's 9/10ths done, chilling on a hanger before I hem it.
If I'm sewing until 11, the antibiotics have worked.
