The Revolving Door At Hotel Tyellas
Jul. 31st, 2007 09:57 amGood gravy. This weekend I was graced with the presence of
orca_girl. “I am taking you to Kaitoke National Park! Resistance is useless!” I declared. There’s something about orca_girl. She was able to softfoot it up to multiple native birds - kererus, a vibrant tui - while they sat and cooed/sang in her presence, only to fly away the moment I approached. That evening, we joined
sazabhadri and her partner at a gastropub that features lots of game dishes on the menu. Unfortunately, one person’s main dish of ostrich carpaccio turned out to be a portion for a fretful anorexic -- peculiar when the rest of us had ample venison, rabbit and mushroom pie, and wienerschnitzel to share. Which, of course, we did.
Then, last night, I got a phone call from a friend. She and her husband are trying to get custody of the husband's daughter, on the advice of a judge, and he needs to come to Wellington for an important hearing. Can he stay with me this week? But of course. At least the house is still sparkling after orca_girl's visit.
