Don't Just Stand There, Bust A Move
Jun. 22nd, 2010 11:29 amYesterday, I learned the hard way that MC Young's song "Bust a Move" was never a substantial part of New Zealand pop culture. Whereas for me, living in and around Philly during the late 80s and the 90s, it is worn into the grooves of my brain, along with Salt n' Peppa's song "Shoop." The end result in 2010 Petone was a lot of mutual embarrassment.
So take a trip with me to the pleasantly ludicrous alternative reality of MC Young, where it doesn't matter if you're black, white, plump, a nerd, or a precursor of Lady Gaga, as long as you are willing to bust a move with pixies dressed in the puffiest of puffy 80s fashion.
