Kicking It Old School
Apr. 21st, 2009 12:55 pmLast night, I caught up on the phone with two old friends. One of them, after extended unemployment here in NZ, has said, “Bugger all this for a lark, I’m going back to school for a new degree, and so is my spouse.” She’s 49; he’s 50. The other has her head spinning after 3 job offers in one day. She’s also so bedazzled by Skype that it was hard to get her to hang up the phone.
Not that I was any help. So old school of me: I love talking on the phone! I feel like I’m in high school/my early 20s again, but in a good way. And my microphone headset cable is long enough that I can lounge in front of my wood stove while I’m on Skype.
I’ve been hoping to have a “Yay, all better!” post. But it’s not time yet. It will be someday. In the meantime, I’m living quietly, doing all kinds of work, and counting my blessings.
