"Sandi Hall who has successfully published (science fiction! as a New Zealand author!) novels, short stories, plays and creative non-fiction, is offering a writing course she developed and taught at Auckland University.
A five day intensive, this course gives hands-on advice and insights into turning your ideas into finished, saleable manuscripts. When: Tues Oct 28, Wed 29, Thurs 30th and Tues Nov 4, Wed 5th. From 10.30 - 3. Where: St. Peter's Hall, in Paekakariki's main street, Beach Road. (accessible from train station) Bring lunch to share. Hot drinks and juice provided.
Cost: $50 each. (Bring own writing paper, pens, etc.) To book, call (04) 905 5146."
It's an unusual opportunity, with the sci-fi aspect, and cheaper than Bill Manhire's famous/notorious writing course at Wellington's Univeristy of Victoria. A pity about the timing, or I'd go myself: it's widely acknowledged nowadays that most authors have and need day jobs!
