The One Wrong Costume
Dec. 30th, 2003 03:19 pmQuote of the day is from James McCourt: "When you are a writer either you have a wound yourself or have an identification with that wound in human nature that seeks to be healed by stories — comforting or tragic, it doesn't matter."
Want a closer look at Minty Fresh Arwen, i.e., Arwen’s wedding dress?
It’s here. I can’t believe silkworms died for this dress. Either the designers wanted something that would be offputting to potential wedding-dress copycats, or maybe it was the anxiety of designing ARWEN’S WEDDING DRESS that led to this costume. To me, it's the only costume in the whole film that strikes a wrong note. In the movie, they used digital magic to make it a softer green, not its actual color, which I’m sure is meant to symbolize young leaves but reminds me more of Gatorade.
