Meanwhile, Back in Middle-Earth

Worked on a Tolkien fanfic last night. Getting into the Tolkiensque writing style again feels like putting a suit of armor back on. The sense of renewed constraint gave me a really good plot hook, though. The only problem remaining seems to be that my Maeglin muse wants a gun, which he can’t have, of course.

I’ve seen and heard so many tui this spring – almost every day for the past week. Even in the industrial neighborhood where I work. This is highly unusual. I’m toying with the idea of getting a tattoo of one, which came to me out of the blue.
