There’s nothing like the gnawing irritation of knowing that All Is Not Right With One’s Home PC. Like all sensible people I have Norton AntiVirus installed on my PC, and it caught-and-“fixed” the Worm virus two days ago. Or so it says. Since then, my PC has been acting a little strangely, especially when I’m online, and I’m getting these messages about my svchost file. Yes, I’m fixing and firewalling and all that. Tonight, I shall whip everything important onto disks, then sacrifice a goat to Eris and pray it stays operational another month.
This whole American media adoration of gay men meme, courtesy of a certain TV show, was cute for five minutes and now it's making me cranky. It also makes me think of something that was happening in the media, oh, nine, ten years ago. Anybody else remember lesbian chic? I do. And lesbian chic didn’t keep me from getting nastily entangled in a sexual-orientation-discrimination case at my place of work, seven years ago.
And I just realized that, while I STILL haven't seen Pirates of the Carribean yet, I am seeing a movie with friends this weekend - and it's the anti-PotC, American Splendor.
